The Voodoo Crew is a branch of the Jamaican Posse that operates out of east-side Detroit, near Hamtramck. They are affiliated with the International Posse alliance, which loosely interconnects them with a number of other gangs in the area. While small, the Voodoo Crew has strong allies, making them fairly unassailable within their own territory. The leader of the Voodoo Crew is known as Li Grande Zombi, and is involved in high-level drug and arms trafficking. His enforcers are known as the Kriminel Krewe, a small group of stone-cold thugs who wear skulls painted on their faces when sent to dispatch the justice of Li Grande Zombi. The traditional form of execution inflicted by the Kriminel Krewe is to dismember the victim with machetes, although no such killing has been ordered for many years now.
The Voodoo Crew moved into Detroit during the late 1980s, when Li Grande Zombi and several supporters broke away from a cell of the infamous Shower Posse based in Chicago. Taking on a theatrical style to intimidate his enemies while allowing him to live a normal life, Li Grande Zombi used terror tactics learned from the CIA in Jamaica to overthrow a number of other, smaller gangs in the region, absorbing them into the Voodoo Crew. While Li Grande Zombi and other members of the Voodoo Crew use occult imagery as part of their motif, few if any members are actually involved in the Voudou religion or are otherwise interested in the occult. It is rumored that Li Grande Zombi has found a practicing Voodoo priestess to serve as his spiritual advisor, but this again may be nothing more than hype.
